After a very successful exhibition in at NG Art Gallery in 2011, Angus Wood returns with an extraordinary body of work. Ghosts of Oblivion explores the poignant and highly-strung tensions between man and nature. In a futuristic outlook, dark imaginings confront our very real detachment from the natural world.

Ghosts of Oblivion embodies an entrancing tension, where not all meets the eye. His imagery is a myriad of suggestiveness. A must see exhibition!

Cultural alliances between countries are important for a variety of reasons: international friendship, economic benefits, creating a more globalised world. All of these merits arrive under the banner of culture and the sharing of art, practise and ideas.

NG Art Gallery will exercise its part in Australia’s cultural alliance with Korea, by exhibiting the works of female Korean artist Ahn, Hee-Sun. Marking fifty-one years of friendship this exhibition will highlight diversity, innovation and connection between the two nation states.

The exhibition opening will be held on Tuesday 3 July 2012 from 6 - 8pm at NG Art Gallery, Chippendale, Sydney. The exhibition will run from 3 July - 21 July

Join Rachel Fairfax, Lecturer in Drawing and Painting at the National Art School and prominant artist for this very special workshop captivating the essence of Still Life subject matter by utilising the fundamental principles of observational drawing and painting in what is bound to be a most enjoyable class.

Students will be given direction in representation, composition, proportion and pictorial form. Rachel will demonstrate colour mixing techniques and reference her own work and other paintings to demonstrate how colour resolves in Still Life paintings.

Take home your own finished Still Life painting after a night of fun creativity and learning.

Rachel Fairfax explores a broad spectrum of subject matter in her paintings and drawings. Her work includes landscape, birds, animals, portraiture and still life.
