ARTISTS WORKSHOP
JANE GILLINGS: SUPERSONIC SCULPTURE LAB
SATURDAY 11 AUGUST 2012 - 3.30PM

INCLUDING 2 COURSE DINNER WITH WINE $125
The possibilities of plastic become a reality when you create your own space-age sculpture using polypropylene scraps and a fifties sense of design. Learn how to find the perfect piece of otherwise trash that will transform your design and make it gleam with pop-plastic colour and curvatious contours.
Souped up with extra intrigue, this workshop has a second element to it. Jane Gillings, having created a series of stop motion animations for her current exhibition, lets us in on her secrets of animation. Could you achieve You-Tube fame and fortune? Anything is possible in the Supersonic sculpture Lab!
All materials and tools are supplied. Bring your own laptop, thumb drive and camera (not essential) and Jane will show you how to create a stop motion animation with software standard to Mac OSX.

BERNARD OLLIS
PARIS CONSIDERED
TUESDAY 14 AUGUST - SATURDAY 1 SEPTEMBER

Bernard Ollis' upcoming solo exhibition at NG Art Gallery, Paris Considered, is an intuitive visual journey transcending the evocative experience of a city host to a historical tradition of artistic influence and inspiration.
Transmitting between Paris and Sydney, Ollis quintessentially engages the heightened sensory experience of a geographical displacement. Tapping into the metropolitan vivacity these works rouse pictorial meanderings of the curious pedestrian. Bending the laws of perspective in a submission to Ollis' quirk and unusual insights in exposing the complexities beyond the cliche.
Paris Considered is to be opened by Visual arts writer for the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Australian correspondent for The Art Newspaper, and founder and editor of artwriter.com.au Elizabeth Fortescue on Tuesday 14 August at NG Art Gallery, Chippendale, from 6 - 8pm.

CHIPPENDALE BEAMS
NG ART GALLERY AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

NG Art Gallery & Mission Restaurant Bar are a driving force behind the re-invention of Chippendale. Since their beginnings 5 years ago they have seen the potential of the area and have been instrumental in the formation of the Chippendale Creative Precinct as a way to bring local businesses and creative professionals together to further develop as a community.
On the 22nd September 5pm-10pm the groundbreaking BEAMS arts festival hosted by the Chippendale Creative Precinct will bring Balfour St and the surrounding streets of Chippendale to life with a kaleidoscope of artistic work from over 250 Chippendale creatives working across light, video, performance, sculpture, live music, installation and dance.
This festival, will BEAM creativity and will have Chippendale buzzing with works and performance themed around history, creativity and sustainability.
Nicky Ginsberg, Festival Director, founder of the Chippendale Creative Precinct and Director of NG Art Gallery, is confident about their vision;
"Our objective is to model ourselves as the next Chelsea of New York. BEAMS is the first celebration of this."
